As part of the "hands on history" field trip series, the fourth graders participated in Rancho Days.  This gives them an insight into how people lived as early settlers in California.  They made salsa, tortillas, and cut up oranges as part of their lunch they ate.  They also made candles, wool bracelets and tissue paper flower decorations.  They also learned how to make adobe bricks, complete with getting their feet muddy, and lassoing horses and playing a game of horseshoes.  At the very end, they completed their fiesta with traditional dancing. One of my favorite field trips they get to do.
