Robotics Course - July 13 - July 24

Robotics Course group picture.

Buddies from school
One of Andrew's buddies from school had a connection to this amazing program offered this summer at Pitzer College in Claremont.  He gets to learn how to program and build robots.  They are teaching the fundamentals of mechanics, technology, engineering and mathematics.  He is so excited to bring dad's laptop to class and learn how to program a robot to do various things.  There was a guest speaker the first day, Walter Martinez who has competed on Battlebots 8 times.  He has also done work on the Transformer movie and many commercials and t.v. shows.  It was really interested in hear what he had to say about the future of robots.

Working on programming their robot.

In 4th grade students learn about the California Missions.  We decided to drive out to one that's less than an hour away from our home.  Andrew will be able to use the info and pictures in school this coming year.  It was a little warm, but at least we were out of the house doing something different.

Park Challenge - July 1

Swinging from the top

Climbing up the side

Monkeying around!
James comes up with challenges for Andrew at the park. Most of them consist of using the play place at the park in alternate ways. It also has a level of difficulty like not being able to touch the ground at all or certain colors of park play areas. And Andrew is always up for a challenge!
